about
Aken's Sleep is the project of longtime friends and collaborators Pie Are Squared and Ali Soliman. Beauty in Decay is their debut album.
Work on this album began in February 2013 with the idea of making an ambient album that slowly develops into all out electronica where the organic sound sources disintegrate into something glassier and more artificial sounding, eventually progressing into a rhythmically rich soundscape. The two continuous pieces were split up into six shorter tracks, in part according to how we felt they lent themselves to visual interpretation.
