January 5th, 2014...
I received a call from my brother telling me that I have to try to return to Cairo as soon as possible since my father isn't doing very well. At this point my father had been in a coma since October and knowing my brother, it was probably serious.
The first track, "Farewell" (initially titled "Be Well") was written and recorded in the aftermath of that phone call

I received another call from my brother, my dad had passed away...
I had gone through some depressing events in my life before that, but nothing compared to this. Thankfully, I had my wife (then girlfriend), my family and friends without whom the weight of that incident would've been damn near unbearable and I will be forever grateful for each and every one of them. This is were "Gratitude" comes in, which was recorded the first day I returned to my place in London and given that my dad was a bassist, there had to be plenty of it in that song.
The reason I waited a year to release this is simple; I had to make sure that it remained relevant for me a year later, and it is...so there you go
Rest in Peace, Papa
